Studio Pro will look at your max students setting for a class when determining if a student can register for a trial or not.
For example, if these are your settings:
Max Students: 10
Number Enrolled: 10
A new student would not be able to sign up for a trial.
However, if these are your settings:
Max Students: 10
Number Enrolled: 9
One new student would be able to sign up for a trial class.
A really important detail to keep in mind is that by default Studio Pro WILL NOT prevent a student from enrolling in a class because of trials students.
For example, if these are your settings:
Max Students: 10
Number Enrolled: 9
Number Current Trials: 1
A new student would be able to enroll in that class. One way to think of this is that Studio Pro DOES NOT block a permanent enrollment because of a temporary trial.
However, you do have a way to change that if that is not how you want online registration in your portal to work.
Go to Magic > Online Registration and look on the Trials tab for the "Count Trials as Enrolled" checkbox.

With this box checked, Studio Pro will block enrollments and trials based on trials that are scheduled.
For example, if these are your settings:
Max Students: 10
Number Enrolled: 9
Number Current Trials: 1
A new student would not be able to schedule a trial or enroll in that class. That spot would be held for the current trialing student through the last day of their trial. If the trial student opted to NOT enroll that day, the spot would be opened up for new enrollments and/or trials.
