Parents are able to opt-in for marketing emails through the waiver functionality of your parent portal.
To turn this option on, go to More > Settings and click Waivers & Policies in the left menu. Then click on the Settings tab.

Check the box that says "I need parents to opt-in for marketing emails" and enter the Opt-in text that needs to appear on the screen for them to agree to. Then click Save Settings at the top of the page.

That opt-in option will now be included when a new parent creates an account.

And it is also included in the Waivers section of your portal for existing parents.
With this marketing opt-in feature enabled, when you use Robo-Mailer you can indicate when you are sending a marketing email. And if you check that box, only parents that have opted to receive marketing emails will be sent that email.
