The first step in setting up your costume fees is adding your costumes to your classes. Start by going to Classes, picking the class, and clicking Costumes in the left menu. There you can add a costume to the class.
After clicking Add Costume, you will fill out the Costume Details.
**Be sure to give the costume a name because the name can be used in the memos you add for your fees. Also, be certain to enter the costume price. Costumes without prices will not have a fee posted.
After adding the costume you will see it displayed in the list. By default, the system will include that costume for each student enrolled in the class that matches the gender entered for the costume and is participating in the recital. You can check sizes and the students that need the costume under the Actions button:
The Students & Sizes screen allows you to manually input information and override the sizes.
**If a student does not need that costume at all, you can uncheck the box in the Order column. Unchecking that box would mean that the student does not get that costume fee.
After saving and going back to the costumes list, you can now Post Costume Fees by clicking the Costumes Actions and selecting Post Costume Fees.
The Post Costumes screen works much like the other transaction posting screens in the system. At the top, you enter the details for the fees including the memo, transaction code, and due dates.
At the bottom, you can use the Check All, Uncheck All, and checkboxes to post to some or all of your active classes.
When you click Post Costume Fees the system looks at the class costumes you have added and the enrolled students that should be charged for those costumes and adds fees accordingly.
**If you post costumes to the same class twice, the system will only post to newly enrolled students. One student will not be charged twice for the same costume.

I do wish there was a capability for the system to notice a downpayment on costumes. We issue a $50 downpayment for all costumes, and then have to go back later and charge the balance once costumes are ordered. The individual adding of fees is a lot of extra work.
I would love for there to be a way to auto update the fees as students enroll. You can create a transaction fee for the class separately, but not as a costume and the costume fee cannot be marked as auto update for when new students enroll in the class.
