You can enable that option on your Portal Settings Page.
Go to More > Settings and click Portal Settings in the left menu.
Then click the Options tab.
Scroll down to the Other Settings section and check the box to Show Absences Page. You can also opt to 'Share the make up status' with parents and Save Changes.
You can also add a message to the Absences Page. Click on the Messages tab on the Portal Settings Page.
Scroll down to the Absences Page Text and enter the message you would like to add and Save Changes.
Parents will see the Absences option under Info > Attendance in the Parent Portal.
Parents can select the student (each will have their own tab) and view the history, which shows the number of Missed Classes, Made-Up Classes, and marked Late times. If they click on the link for the missed class, they can see the dates as well.
If the setting to allow Parents to report an absence is enabled in the Portal, they'll also see that button where they can Report Absence.
