Unexpected circumstances can sometimes prevent students from participating in the activities they’ve registered for, leaving families with unexpected costs and studios navigating difficult refund conversations.
In this Learning Lab, we introduced Vertical Insure, an optional insurance solution that can help protect families and studios through Refund Protection and Accident & Injury Insurance.
Objectives for the Session
By the end of this Learning Lab, you'll be able to:
- Understand how Refund Protection works. (Learn how families can protect eligible registration fees and tuition when a covered circumstance prevents a student from participating.)
- Understand Accident & Injury Insurance. (Learn how coverage can help families with eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses, including co-pays and deductibles, when an injury occurs during a registered activity.)
- Understand what payments can be covered. (Learn how coverage can apply to both one-time payments and recurring tuition based on your season dates.)
- Learn when coverage begins and how long it lasts. (Understand when a policy becomes active and how coverage relates to your Studio Pro season dates.)
- Understand the cost of Refund Protection. (Learn how coverage is priced and how families, rather than studios, are responsible for the cost.)
- Learn how to get started with Vertical Insure. (Find out where to learn more and request access for your studio.)
Q&A
Q: You mentioned "registration revenue" during the presentation, but not tuition. Does "registration revenue" also include tuition for the period (month, season, or year)?
A: Yes. In the context of Vertical Insure, registration fees include both registration fees and tuition costs for the season.
Q: What is the recommended minimum non-refundable amount for this to make sense to enable? Our tuition is month-to-month, and the only fees paid in advance or on a payment plan are recital fees up to $350.
A: There is no minimum amount required.
Q: Is this a one-time payment on the family's part, or a recurring charge?
A: Coverage can apply to both one-time payments and recurring tuition based on the season dates.
Q: What is the duration of the policy?
A: Coverage begins the day after the policy is purchased. Any covered peril that occurs from that point through the end of the season would be covered.
Q: What does Accident & Injury Insurance cover?
A: Accident & Injury Insurance covers eligible out-of-pocket medical costs, including co-pays and deductibles, for injuries that occur during the activity the family registered for.
Q: How much does Refund Protection cost?
A: The cost of coverage is approximately 7% of the registration fee. Studios do not have any financial responsibility for collecting this cost.
