How can I hold an online class using Messenger Rooms by Facebook? – Studio Pro

Messenger Rooms can be created from any Facebook Profile. You can start and join Rooms from within a Facebook Group, and then only those members can join (plus they'll see a notification on their home page) or you can create a public link that even those without Facebook can join. When you schedule ahead you can insert the link into your Online Class Settings and your students can join directly from their parent portal. Messenger Rooms can be locked once the meeting has started.

From a Facebook Profile (to create a public link for non-user of Facebook, they will need Chrome or an iPad - see below to Schedule in a Facebook Group)

Choose "Invite Specific Friends" - though you will be able to skip that in the next step.

In this section, you can choose to Skip this step and you'll be able to get a public link.

A pop-up will ask you to Turn On link sharing, click to do so. If you choose to Keep Off, this will prevent participants from joining until you turn it back on.

Select the Start time, then click Create Room

***IMPORTANT***
Since you haven't selected any Friends, the above message about Invited friends seeing your room at the top of their News Feed won't apply as long as you do not post to your news feed, if Facebook takes you here, just close the Room first (small purple arrow) and then close the post. This way your Room will not show in your News Feed for anyone to join.

Click in the box, but NOT on the Join button here...

You will see the section with the link - copy by clicking on the double page icon, and then click on the X to close this box.

You can also return here to Join the Room when it's time for class to start. If you did not Turn On link sharing, you can enable that here

You can insert this link in the Online Class Settings and decide if you want to make this link available all the time, keep in mind the Room can be joined even when the original host hasn't joined yet, if you have enabled Link Sharing.

Group Members will automatically be invited, multiple members can start a Room, (perfect to have several teachers holding classes at the same time) and notifications, as well as News Feed Prompts will remind your Parents when class is about to start. The hosting members Profile badge will show on the post.
