By default, waitlists are enabled on all of your classes that have a max # of students set. If you set the max # of students in your class to be zero, the waitlist option would not be availabe in online registration because there is no student max. You can also change how your waitlists work.
Two options for that are available under Magic > Online Registration.
The first box says "Do not let parents add themselves to a waitlist when a class is full. (Hide the waitlist option in your portal)". This disables all waitlists in your portal, so NO ONE will be able to add themselves to a waitlist in online registration.
The next box says "Do not let parents register for a class that has a waitlist if a spot opens up. (So you can fill the spot from the waitlist)". This means that if there is a waitlist for a class and a spot opens up, the system WILL NOT automatically open up online registration for that class again until you manage that waitlist. Simply put, this lets you fill the spot from the waitlist rather than a lucky parent logging in and finding the spot open and registering. So that waitlist will continue to have students added to it even though there is a spot open in that class until you add a student from the waitlist to the class. The system notifies you of open spots once per day.
You can also disable waitlists by season. If you have a season that you do not want waitlists to show up for any of the classes in that season you can go to More > Seasons, pick that season, and check this box.
