After you add an event, you can change the Share Details dropdown to share the detail with parents in the Parent portal.

Once you check that box, the Events calendar in the Parent Portal becomes a link to the event detail. Parents can view the events calendar by logging into the Parent Portal and going to More > Calendar or clicking the Calendar icon.
This displays a calendar with their classes and shared events.
When they click the event a popup is displayed with the event detail.
