By default when you use hourly rates or class count rates, the system expects you to enter the full rate amount for the pay period.
**For example, if you post tuition monthly the system would expect you to enter the full month amount when you set up your rates, then when you post tuition students would be charged for a month's tuition. So if you added hourly rates like:
1 hour: $40
2 hours: $70
3 hours: $100
A student enrolls in a class that meets one hour per week. When you post tuition, that student gets a fee of $40. This is the best option if you want to charge the same amount month to month or term to term regardless of the number of times a class meets.
Another option is to set up your hourly rates or class count rates as weekly amounts and have the system calculate the full tuition amounts for you.
To enable this option, under More > Tuition & Statements on the "Rates" tab you can check this box:
In this case, you might set up hourly rates like:
1 hour: $10
2 hours: $17
3 hours: $23
If a student enrolled in a class that met one hour per week, the system would look at how many times that class met to come up with the full tuition amount based on that one-week amount. So if there were 4 weeks in May the full tuition would be $40 ($10 hourly rate x 4 weeks). Then in June if the class ended mid-month and it only met twice, the system would post a fee of $20 for that same student ($10 hourly rate x 2 weeks).
The weekly rate option can be used for monthly amounts or for a full season. If you charge tuition by term and set up seasons for each term, you can tell the system to calculate for a full term using this dropdown.
